Location: Flexible - A combination of office, remote working, and national travel

Reporting to: CEO

Salary: €45,000 to €52,000 pro-rata DOE

Responsible for: The overall wellbeing of both the internal programme delivery team as well as the young people who access our services. As Head of Wellbeing and Child Protection Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring adequate training is provided to align to all mandated and in-house policies.

About the Role

The Head of Wellbeing and Child Protection Officer is responsible for providing a coordinated approach to the wellbeing and safety for all staff and young people at Soar and has oversight of the onboarding, training, assessment and professional development of the Soar Foundation’s team. Providing consistent wellbeing support to Soar's frontline programme delivery team, working with individuals on any issues or concerns arising from Soar workshops, trainings and community engagements and signposting, as appropriate, to occupational health supports.

Responsibilities

  • Development of an annual Resilience Programme to include a schedule of 1:1 counselling, group training and peer support initiatives for Soar Programme Delivery Team (PDT)

  • Responsible for the Soar L&D team’s adherence to clinical best practice in Soar’s L&D programmes and providing guidance and support on areas of development.

  • Responsible for overseeing the wellbeing of staff through the onboarding phase and throughout the professional development phases of the PDT.

  • Ensuring Soar is adhering to the principles of the HSE Child Protection and Welfare Policy

  • As Designated Liaison Person (DLP) you are responsible for all child protection disclosures, ensuring mandatory reporting policies are up to date and adhered to at all times.

  • Act as primary liaison in dealing with the HSE, An Garda Síochana and in Soars’ instance – schools and community groups, in connection with allegations and/or concerns of child abuse and neglect

  • Organise the delivery of the Child Protection Awareness training and other appropriate training through, and in conjunction with, the L&D function.

  • Oversee the completion of the Child Safeguarding Risk Assessment and the Child Safeguarding Statement on a regular basis

  • Provide monthly, quarterly and annual quality management reports for CEO and Board of Directors.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Master's degree in clinical psychology/child and Adolescent Psychology/other relevant discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams. Experience of child and adolescent mental health sector a distinct advantage.

  • The capacity to work within a diverse setting using a preventative, psychoeducational approach with individual facilitators, as well as teams

  • The ability to assess and signpost members of the team to appropriate follow up external therapeutic support when required

  • Excellent administration, record keeping and organisational skills

  • Strong communication skills
